During the 8th Pan African Congress (PAC) held in Johannesburg from 14th to 16th January 2014, Professor Kwesi Kwaa Prah was approached by Professor Tunde Babawale, Director of the Centre for Black Arts and Civilization (CBAAC), to deliver the Annual Black History Month Public Lecture at the University of Ibadan, on Pan Africanism. This text is a conflation of the address with another earlier paper, providing a little more substance and detail than its progenitors.
It is educative to note that, for over a century, no single idea or intellectual formula for the emancipation and development of people of African descent has been as influential and all-embracing, for the thought and practice of African politics as the clutch of ideas experessed in teh Pan Africanist argument. In brief, the argument is that the future of Africa and Africans must lie in the hands of Africans.
